We get overwhelmed when we don’t have enough energy.

It’s no wonder. There are so many things asking for a part of us. If we aren’t discerning with where we invest our energy, vigilant when overstep, and judicious in that’s no longer life giving, we’re quickly drained. We hold on to emotions, stress and trauma and your nervous system gets tied in knots.


Then we suffer in body, mind, and life.


Our body hurts,

Sleep and digestion are disrupted.

Creativity dries up.

Things feel heavy, dense, and serious. You struggle to find purpose.


It doesn’t have to be this way. When you reclaim your energy, everything feels different.


We reclaim our energy by turning towards what we’re resisting. The friction of what you’re resisting is wasted energy. But when you turn towards it, you reclaim it. When you reclaim your energy, you reconnect to the juice of life.

To thrive in today’s world it’s essential that we notice where we are leaking energy (physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially) and clean it up.


Here’s 21 ideas:


  1. Sit quietly in a room, by yourself, with no distractions, and do nothing.

  2. Breathe slowly.

  3. Do one less thing this week.

  4. Organize your physical space.

  5. Eat less.

  6. Eat nothing (fast).

  7. Buy one less thing.

  8. Take a sabbath day.

  9. Leave your phone outside of your room when you sleep.

  10. Apologize to someone.

  11. Say no when you want to.

  12. Say yes when you want to.

  13. Forgive someone.

  14. Forgive yourself.

  15. Take yourself on a date.

  16. Spend time alone in nature.

  17. Give something away.

  18. Clean your room. Clean your car. Clean your ____.

  19. Do that thing that you’ve been avoiding. Or decide not to do it.

  20. Start that creative project you’ve been putting off.

  21. Cancel a monthly subscription.


Where to start? Start with the one that gives you a felt reaction in your body. Nothing in the outside world can bother us unless we have unresolved stress within us. If you read or hear or see something and you feel a twinge of guilt, fear, anger, or resistance of any kind…you’re resisting something. And it’s draining your energy.


Making a commitment to listen to these signals and act on them is the most direct way to reclaim your energy. You already know what to do. It just takes the courage to act.
