In his book Trauma, the Invisible Epidemic, Dr. Paul Conti defines trauma as “anything that causes emotional or physical pain and leaves its mark on a person as life moves forward”. It’s an experience that we didn’t have the energy to process at the time. So the body, in it’s wisdom, tucks it away for later. Trauma doesn’t just live in your mind—it’s stored in your body, shaping your life from the inside out.
Your body doesn’t think thoughts, it thinks in feeling. So to release trauma, we need technologies that get below the 5% of us that is conscious and access the other 95% which is subconscious. Remote Kinesiology, based in the science of Neuro-Emotional Technique, is one such technology.
What Is Remote Kinesiology?
There’s three kinds of kinesiology (muscle testing).
One is how strong you are - like a bench press. This isn’t about that.
The second is a nerve conduction study. Which might be done to assess a nerve impingement after a physical trauma. This isn’t that.
The third is kinesiology from a chiropractic perspective. This tests for a stress on your body. A physical stress (back pain) or an environmental stress (like a cell phone or a substance you’re allergic to) will make your muscles go just a little weak. An emotional stress, such as an old emotion of fear, resentment, or shame, is also a stress. A trained practitioner can test this.
That’s how I use muscle testing to uncover hidden stress and trauma. Traditionally, this happens in person, with a chiropractor pressing on your arm to gauge resistance. But remote kinesiology since we are all connected, I am able to do the testing at a distance. As we go through the session your body will guide us, through the kinesiology, to exactly the old patterns that it is ready to release. You will then apply pressure to specific points on your body to integrate the trauma. Unlike other therapies which take a much more general approach, this allows your body to guide us to the specific patterns that will have the greatest impact for you. I’ve had clients say it’s like months of therapy in one session.
By providing care through remote kinesiology clients across the globe can access this healing work. My clients —from overwhelmed healers to inspired entrepreneurs to stressed parents — can receive holistic neuro-emotional chiropractic care without having to travel.
Trauma and the Body: A Chiropractor’s View
Trauma isn’t abstract—it’s physical. A car accident, a loss, or chronic stress can lodge in your nervous system, the master network tying mind and body together. As a chiropractor, I see this daily: tension in the spine, shallow breathing, fatigue. Trauma creates blocks—emotional and physical—that block energy. This dis-ease then surfaces as any number of symptoms or conditions, physical and otherwise.
Conventional talk therapy helps, but it often misses the 95% of ourselves that is the subconscious. That’s where kinesiology shines. By testing muscle responses, I pinpoint where trauma hides—maybe a memory from years ago or a recent shock. This isn’t guesswork; it’s a chiropractor’s science, rooted in how your body reacts under stress. Remote kinesiology lets me assess these signals anywhere, making trauma healing accessible.
Healing through Awareness and Acceptance
True healing occurs naturally when we combine awareness with acceptance. That’s why kinesiology is such a powerful tool - it allows the body to pinpoint and re-experience, from a safe and energized place, those old patterns that are bound in the body. Picture this: during a remote session, the kinesiology guides us to a memory of a stress when you were five years old —a fight, a fear, a loss. A weak response flags an emotional block tied to trauma. Then I guide you to release it with gentle touch and breathing.
It’s not magic; it’s neurology. Trauma gets “stuck” in your nervous system, looping stress signals. As a chiropractor, I help you break that cycle, restoring coherence between mind and body. Clients report feeling lighter, more energized, and more free —proof that releasing trauma heals more than the past.
How Remote Kinesiology Works in Practice
Wondering what a session looks like? It’s simple. We connect via telehealth video or audio. We talk briefly and I show you how I can muscle test myself for you during the session. As we talk through some specific steps the remote kinesiology will lead us to the trauma behind the pain point that brought you in. Then, with gentle touch and breath, we release it. Sessions are about twenty minutes.
Take Sarah, a client struggling to find her voice (literally, she felt blocked from singing). In one session we gently released a childhood trauma that was tied up in her nervous system. She was crying as the session went on, but clearly felt lighter and lighter. After, her posture shifted, her voice brightened, and she felt able to access her voice like she hadn’t before. As a chiropractor, I’ve seen this shift countless times: trauma released, life restored.
Of course, it’s an ongoing process. There is always more to release. It’s the journey of being human, bringing awareness and acceptance to all of the parts of ourselves. This work is like taking weights out of your backpack so you can enjoy the journey.
Why Choose a Chiropractor for Trauma Healing?
Chiropractors aren’t just for back pain. It’s about the nervous system. And we can work with the nervous system from anywhere, which is why remote care can be just as effective as in person. Remote delivery makes it accessible and universal—no office, no limits. Whether it’s stress, old wounds, or physical tension, we can release the underlying stress behind it.
Trauma doesn’t have to define you; it’s a block we can clear.
