Moving Directly Towards Your Calling

I’m getting vulnerable and calling on my community to help make a dream a reality. Read to the end to see why and how.

I felt the splash of the cold wind through cracked windows cutting the warmth of the sun as I hurtled straight down a windy mountain road. The rip of the air was nature washing clean my small mind - you know, the static. I shifted the car into neutral - there’s no need for self-propulsion when the mountain flows you as easily and naturally as a bouncing stream. No traffic in either direction, so my speed was entirely up to me. I swung wide the turns, cut corners liberally. It struck me how effortlessly fast one can go with a little more trust and a lot less braking.

In the vacuum of solitude, speed, and the grand sunrise vistas of the southern cascades I saw my life flash before my eyes. A future timeline - laid out in my mind’s eye along Shasta’s alpine tree line. Inspiration comes more easily when you’re not so preoccupied with punching the brakes, following traffic regulations, or checking the time.

I was right where I needed to be. My lukewarm life in the SLO was the foil I needed to claim a truer way of being that was more authentically mine. Because what good is a chiropractor if HE’s not aligned? I had fooled myself into thinking that chasing dreams was for some later time, but we’ve all heard that story before. I’m fascinated now by this: what happens when we get really clear what our calling is, then choose to move directly towards what we want? In this sabbatical already that entirely new rhythm was emerging and the rip of the wind confirmed the invisible vision that had blossomed within me.

Big books and big trees bring big thoughts.

I’m converting my practice to a non-profit and offering care by donation.  I’m making money a part of the healing, not an obstacle to it. I will legally restructure my practice as a 508c1A trust ministry and deliver this care as the dharma service that I’ve always know it to be. Living in trust, I will be supported and enriched in ways so much greater than just financially. I’m going to live in the gift.

I’m going to convert a van into a mobile living space and so that I can deliver my service to communities all through CA and beyond. Instead of building a practice in the traditional way, I am going to deliver my care in the form of transformational remote care combined with in person intensives, workshops, and retreats. To live in the gift you need a life with space for the magic - a brick and mortar house and practice, right now, would stifle the grace of this rhythm to fully expand.

The authenticity that I live will be the catalyst for healing, growth, and transformation for so many individuals. Not because I’m anything special, but because anyone in their radiance is a clear mirror for others to reconnect with their fire. A coyote to trick others into remembering the dreams that they forgot they ever had.

In this spirit of moving directly towards your calling, living in the gift doesn’t start tomorrow. The time to get real and be vulnerable is today. So I’m inviting you into my dreams.
